Itinerary

Day 1 (Inti Raymi)

  • On the day of the Inti Raymi tour (June 24) at 7:45 in the morning we will meet at the Valeriana café (in front of Coricancha) to go to the Coricancha temple where the first staging of Inti Raymi takes place. This first staging shows the entrance to the Inca, the coya (wife) and the rest of the actors and actresses who ask for the blessing of the sun to begin the Inti Raymi ceremony.
  • This staging is available to all visitors, even residents of Cusco, so you will necessarily have to appreciate the show standing up, like everyone else. However, you can optionally add an entrance ticket to the tour to enjoy this show from a seat (subject to availability).
  • Next, we will head on foot to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco (in Inca times it was called Huacaypata), where the second staging of Inti Raymi will take place. This show is also open to the public, so it will be necessary to find a suitable location.
  • During this ceremony the Inca and his entourage parade around the plaza before a show of dance and music by the emissaries of the four regions (four of his own). On the main stage arranged in the center of the plaza, the Inca makes the offering and reading of the coca leaf. The sun (god Inti) will decide if these will be favorable times for the Incas.
  • After the ceremony in the Plaza de Armas, the tourist transport will take us to the famous Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán (at approximately 11:30 in the morning). There each visitor will receive a ‘box lunch’ to recharge their batteries. This staging is only suitable for people who purchased their tickets. As the tour package includes admission tickets, each visitor will enjoy the show in their respective seat in total comfort.
  • At the time of booking the tour, the tourist must choose between one of the three available stands: red seat, orange seat or green seat. They all allow you to appreciate the show comfortably.
  • The staging in Sacsayhuamán is the most spectacular of the Inti Raymi. It lasts approximately 2 hours (ends around 3:30 in the afternoon). In it the Inca performs the chicha ritual, as well as the sacrifice of a black llama in homage to the sun god. The show includes the participation of hundreds of actors and actresses, as well as a music show.
  • Finally, in the afternoon the tourist transport will return tourists to the center of the city of Cusco where the tour ends (at approximately 5:30 in the afternoon).

Day 2 (Machu Picchu)

  • The Machu Picchu tour begins with the visitor being picked up at the door of their hotel in the historic center of Cusco. Pick up will be between 4.50 am and 5 am.
  • Aboard a tourist transport, a short trip of just 15 minutes is made to the Wánchaq station in the city of Cusco itself.
  • The Peru Rail Bimodal bus departs from the Wánchaq station and, on a route through beautiful landscapes for 1 hour 50 minutes, will take you to the Ollantaytambo train station.
  • Once at the station, the visitor has approximately 30 minutes free to make last-minute purchases, use toilet services or buy a snack or drinks.
  • Visitors will board the Expedition tourist train, which includes comfortable seats, tables, large windows, space to store luggage, informative audios throughout the trip and attention from on-board staff (sale of snacks and drinks).
  • During the train trip the visitor will be able to appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the Vilcanota River valley. After 1 hour 45 minutes of travel, you arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu town due to its proximity to the Inca archaeological site.
  • Once there, an assistant will lead the visitor to the queue to board the Consettur buses. The queue lasts between 5 to 15 minutes. The trip is uphill in comfortable seats until arriving at the entrance gate of Machu Picchu, after 30 minutes of travel.
  • The tour guide will meet visitors at the entrance gate of Machu Picchu. There the tourist will complete circuit 2, the most recommended in the Inca city. The circuit includes a visit to the Guardian’s House, from where classic photos of the Inca city are taken.
  • The Machu Picchu circuit also includes a visit to the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor and more. Visitors will have free time to take the best photographs of the archaeological site, always in the company of the professional tour guide.
  • After the visit to Machu Picchu, the tourist will return by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes. If you booked the buffet lunch, before returning by bus, you must go to the restaurant of the Sanctuary Lodge hotel (5 stars), located next to Machu Picchu.
  • In Aguas Calientes you will have free time to have lunch (not included in the tour) or walk through the streets of the town.
  • At the time agreed upon by the tour guide, you must board the Expedition tourist train. The trip is comfortable and with maximum comfort. After almost 2 hours we arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo. There you transfer to a tourist bus that takes you to the Wánchaq station in the city of Cusco in almost 2 hours.
  • The tour ends with the final transfer to the door of the tourist’s hotel in the city of Cusco (ends at approximately 9 pm)..
